Waiheke United have announced the appointment of Gareth Jenkinson as the club’s new president.

Replacing Nick Saunders in the role, Jenkinson has been the team manager for United’s first team and U-23 side, as well as playing over-35s football.

“Football has always been in my life from playing in the cubs/scouts, school, work and local community teams,” he says.

“I’ve been on the committee about four years and enjoy helping develop the club and bring football to the island.

“Waiheke United has come a long way over the 35+years — from nothing to participating in the Northern League in 2022.

“I look forward to continuing the development of the club’s success and to provide access to football at all levels for the local community.”
