Striker Monty Patterson to combine playing with coaching at promoted Manurewa

New Zealand international striker Monty Patterson will take on a coaching role with newly-promoted Northern League club Manurewa next season.

The All White will play in the Northern League but has been named as head coach for the club’s U-23 side, and for Rewa’s U-17 and U-19 teams for their national tournaments in late 2023.

Patterson (26) returns for a second season with Manurewa after joining the club from Auckland United.

His move into coaching also adds to the strengthening of Rewa’s coaching staff with the arrival also of veteran coach Paul Marshall who will help head coach Rhys Ruka.

Marshall left his role as Director of Football at Onehunga Mangere United at the end of last season.

Nico Bobadilla … signs on for 2023 season.

Meanwhile, Manurewa have confirmed the re-signing of last season’s Player of the Year, Nico Bobadilla.

The 23-year-old Argentina-born player joined Rewa for the start of the 2022 season in which the club were runners-up in the Lotto NRFL first division, winning promotion to next year’s Northern League.

Bobadilla’s former clubs include Manukau United, Bay Olympic and Waiheke United.
