Wellington Phoenix goalkeeper Brianna Edwards has been called into the Football Ferns squad for the two-match series against the United States.

The Phoenix say she replaces clubmate Lily Afeld who has suffered a set-back with her back injury.

New Zealand Football have confirmed Edwards’ inclusion in the Ferns squad and have announced that forward Indiah Paige-Riley will also join the Ferns camp.

Paige-Riley’s inclusion follows her departure from Denmark to sign as an injury replacement with A-League club Brisbane Roar for the rest of the season.

Edwards has been an age group international but has been eligible to play for both countries, through her New Zealand-born father.

Joining the Ferns camp is an indication that the young ‘keeper has decided where her international future might lie.
