Former All Whites coach and player Ricki Herbert is celebrating his graduation from FIFA’s ‘The Next 90 Programme’.
It is designed to provide former international footballers with the right tools to design and develop their own career, whether it’s football-related or in other industries.
“It has been an absolute privilege and honour to have been part of “The Next 90 Programme” over the past year,” Herbert said.
Herbert said he owed “a massive thank you to FIFA and CIES for providing such an in-depth and inspiring opportunity.”
The year-long course consisted of seven modules of learning, six of which were completed online, and one was undertaken in person, requiring Herbert to travel to FIFA headquarters in Switzerland.
Herbert said the course would prove beneficial to the Ricki Herbert Football Academy, which he founded in 2013, and his business RH Sports Tours, which specialises in arranging travel for sports teams or for events.
“To have now completed and graduated from the programme, it is time to instil all the amazing learnings that were delivered by world-class presenters,” he says.
He sent a message via social media to those who had helped him: “A huge #thankyou to Matteo, Javier, Nicolas, David and ALL the inspirational presenters for your valued support, assistance and guidance over the past 12 months.
“This has certainly been a journey of special memories and the chance to connect with an outstanding group of candidates who have been nothing short of amazing, passionate individuals that have and will remain a very special part of my life.
“My journey now leads to my next chapter in my football career and I am certainly looking forward to the exciting challenges that it will present.”

FIFA’s introduction to The Next 90 says the ideal participant is a former international footballer with strong leaderships, communication skills who is motivated to always learn and improve themselves, and with a deep interest in sharing experiences and knowledge.
