All Whites striker Alex Greive faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after injuring his ankle in St Mirren’s Scottish Cup loss to Celtic.
Greive (23) limped off the pitch during St Mirren’s 5-1 defeat, sparking concerns his fitness could be in doubt for New Zealand’s two-match international series against China.
St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson said:
“We have scan results back, and unfortunately, we are fearing that it’s going to be a length of time with Alex.”
Robinson said Greive’s injury leaves St Mirren short of firepower for next weekend’s game against Motherwell.
“We have lost four strikers now, including the two that left in January, and that always seems to be the way that they come in twos and threes when you’ve got a small squad,” he said.
Greive had helped St Mirren to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup with a penalty shoot out goal in his side’s win against Dundee.
