Waitemata FC have formed a partnership with Bike Auckland to promote active transport and healthy lifestyles at the club’s open day on March 12.

Bike Auckland will provide support and resources on the day, such as a Bike Safety Check, to help club members and their families to bike more, particularly for travel to and from matches and training sessions.

In turn, the club will help Bike Auckland promote active transport and cycling as a healthy and sustainable way to get around Auckland.

“We’re excited to partner with Waitemata Football Club to promote active transport and healthy living,” said Angela Lin, Volunteer and Events Manager at Bike Auckland.

“Cycling is a fun, healthy, and affordable way to get around, and we hope this partnership will encourage more people to give it a try.”

“Waitemata Football Club Director of Football Dan Johnston said:

“We are pleased to partner with Bike Auckland to promote healthy and active lifestyles for our members and community on our Open Day.

“We hope families are able to jump on their bikes to head down to the club on the day and we hope to inspire our members to take up cycling, which not only benefits their health but also the environment.”

The partners say their collaboration is an excellent example of two community groups working together to promote healthy lifestyles and sustainable transport options and they hope their initiative can continue throughout the football season.
