Olivia Chance to captain Ferns as coach Klimková makes five changes to line-up

posted in: Football Ferns, News

Head coach Jitka Klimková has made five changes to her starting team for Monday’s friendly international between the Football Ferns and Argentina, and has named Olivia Chance as captain.

Missing from the starting line-up from the side beaten 5-0 by Portugal on Friday are captain Ali Riley, CJ Bott, Kate Taylor, Claudia Bunge and Malia Steinmetz.

Riley was carrying an injury at training over the weekend, while defenders Taylor and Bunge and midfielder Steinmetz drop to the bench for the game at FMG Stadium Waikato.

Bott is not named in the matchday squad.

NZ Football said via its Twitter feed: “CJ Bott, Ali Riley and Indiah-Paige Riley miss out with minor injuries.”

Chance, who is from the Waikato, gets the opportunity to lead her country in her home town.

Meanwhile, Argentina will be led out by captain and goalkeeper Vanina Correa (39), the veteran of the side who did not play in Friday’s 4-0 win against Chile.
