Wellington Phoenix defender Claudia Cicco has been named in the Young Matildas squad for their upcoming U-20 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers.
Cicco (18) has been selected after taking part in training camps and international matches over the past few months.
She has impressed in her maiden Liberty A-League season, featuring in nine of the Wellington Phoenix’s 12 matches and starting four of them.
Cicco will assemble with the Young Matildas this week and will be unavailable for the Phoenix’s upcoming matches against Brisbane Roar and Sydney FC.
The Australian under-20 side will face Guam and hosts Kyrgyz Republic in group C of the round one qualifiers, with the group winners progressing to round two in June.
