Injured skipper Michael Built to become assistant coach for Eastern Suburbs

Eastern Suburbs skipper Michael Built will move into the first team dugout this season as he becomes an assistant coach for the Lilywhites as he recovers from an ACL injury.

Built was captain of the Suburbs side in last year’s Northern League but he’ll now assist new head coach Kane Wintersgill for the new season, and be the club’s Junior Director of Football.

Wintersgill (25) replaces Hoani Edwards who stepped down to focus on his role as Youth Director of Football. Edwards will also assist with the first team, and coach the club’s U-23s and U-17s.

Wintersgill told Suburbs’ website:

“I think everyone within the group knows that whilst last season’s Chatham Cup run was an exciting time, the priority is to be back in the National League and competing at the top of the domestic game here in New Zealand.”

“I hope the fans can be excited to watch an aggressive, hard-working, and high-energy team.”
