All Whites midfielder Clayton Lewis to join Macarthur Bulls, report claims

All Whites midfielder Clayton Lewis will join Sydney club Macarthur FC on a two-year deal when he leaves the Wellington Phoenix, according to an Australian report.

FTBL reporter Dave Lewis says:

“It’s believed new coach Mile Sterjovski and football director Sam Krslovic have been longtime admirers of the Kiwi.”

The report says Krskovic declined to confirm or deny whether a deal had been signed but he did say: “While I can’t discuss specific signings we always welcome and are always on the lookout for quality players — and quality human beings — to our football club.”

The Macarthur Bulls currently sit three points outside the A-League play-off spots and split with high-profile head coach Dwight Yorke in January.

Clayton is one of three Phoenix players who have confirmed departures when their contracts run out at the end of the current isuzu-UTE A-League season.

FTBL claims All Whites goalkeeper Oli Sail will head to Perth Glory while Steven Ugarkovic will join Melbourne City.

Lewis, who has 22 caps for the All Whites, has made 56 appearances for the Phoenix since returning to New Zealand after a two-year spell with Scunthorpe United in the United Kingdom.
