Striker Nathan Simes returns to Miramar Rangers after stint in United States

Striker Nathan Simes has signed for Central League club Miramar Rangers after returning to New Zealand following a season with New York’s Fordham Rams.

The Rams play in NCAA Division I as part of Fordham University’s football programme.

Simes (19) returns to Wellington where he has previously played for clubs including Western Suburbs, Team Wellington and the Wellington Phoenix.

He was with Miramar Rangers in 2021-22.

Simes has been a prolific goalscorer at youth level, winning the Golden Boot at the national U-19 tournament and winning Golden Boot awards at the NZ National Futsal Championship in 2016 (19 goals) and 2018 (14 goals).

He has attended national training camps for the New Zealand U-20 squad.

Other signings for Rangers

New head coach Kale Herbert has made a number of new signings for the 2023 season.

These include former Melville United duo Luke Searle and Ryen Lawrence, Jonty Roubos, Blake Inder, Seb Barton-Ginger and Blake Chandler.

Rangers have confirmed the re-signing of Sam Mason-Smith, Andy Bevin, Spencer Cameron, Michael Kennedy, Hunter Wilson, Harry Chote, Jake Harris, Tiahn Manuel, Jack De Groot, Liam Wood and Scott Midgely.
