World Cup trio join All Whites coaching staff for upcoming China series

Three All Whites from the 2010 FIFA World Cup squad have joined the coaching staff to help interim head coach Darren Bazeley prepare for the two-match series with China.

Simon Elliott, Rory Fallon and Glen Moss will be in the dugout for the games in Auckland and Wellington.

Elliott and Fallon will join as assistant coaches while Moss will be the squad’s goalkeeping coach.

Collectively, the three bring 122 international caps to the staff.

“We speak a lot as a team about the legendary 2010 side, so it’s great to bring that experience into camp for these games,” Bazeley says.

“I know Glen, Rory and Simon well. All have had distinguished careers and know what it takes to represent their country.

“I’m really looking forward to working with them as we kick off the new World Cup cycle against China later this month.”

Elliott joins from Davis Legacy Soccer Club in California where he works as Director of Coaching. Elliott was previously head coach of Sacramento Republic FC in the USL Championship.

Fallon is Head of Youth Development at the Wellington Phoenix Academy.

Moss is the goalkeeping coach for the men’s A-League side at Sydney club Macarthur FC.

Bazeley had been trying to get former All Whites assistant coach Neil Emblen into his coaching staff for the series, and had been seeking consent from Emblen’s Colorado Rapids club in the United States.

The Rapids have this month extended Emblen’s contract for three years.
