Franklin United sign experienced defender Cameron Sinclair

Lotto NRFL Northern Conference side Franklin United have added to their pre-season signings with the arrival of experienced defender Cameron Sinclair.

Sinclair (27) joins from Lotto NRFL Championship club Mount Albert Ponsonby. He’s the second player to move across from MAP, with the summer recruitment of goalkeeper Brody Turkington (27).

Others signed by head coach Mark Holt include Jun Hong (from Bucklands Beach) and defender Andy O’Donoghue (from Hamilton Wanderers).

Sinclair says he’s happy to be reunited with coach Holt after playing for him at Mt Albert Grammar School, Eastern Suburbs and Purdue Fort Wayne University, in Indiana.

Sinclair has also played Northern League football for Manukau United.

“He (Holt) spoke to me about the club’s vision, which aligns with my own standards and expectations. I also know a number of the players involved at the club, so I am looking forward to having a great season and achieving the targets set out.”

United to play in new-look Northern Conference

The play-off winner earns promotion to the Lotto NRFL Men’s Championship, which has replaced the Lotto NRFL First Division.

Franklin United’s season starts on Saturday March 25, 2023. The fixtures schedule is not yet available.
