Mangere United to test facilities with floodlit “drill” match at Centre Park

posted in: Club noticeboard

Mangere United will host a “drill” match under floodlights on Wednesday March 29 to test their ground facilities ahead of them being used as a training base during the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Pacific Football Hub, Centre Park, Mangere, will be the Training Base Camp (TBC) for the Portugal national women’s team in July.

Explaining the “drill” match plan, Mangere United said:

“The intention of this match is to take all learnings so that we are ready to host fixtures on sign-off. There is a lot that has to be considered for a night match because the environment is very different to a day one.

“We will work with Northern Region Football and our parks team to achieve this practical completion.”

The “drill” match will feature the women’s division five Mangere United Maramas.

“All welcome to come along to this,” United say.

“It is an important exercise for our grounds committee. Hot chips will be on sale too.”
