Struggling Manukau United to host defending champions in midweek match

Relegation-threatened Manukau United face title holders Auckland City in a catch-up Northern League fixture on Wednesday night.

United have won only once this season — and that was two months ago, when they beat West Coast Rangers — and their league form was matched by a 6-0 Chatham Cup loss last weekend, to Tauranga City who play in the Lotto NRFL Men’s Championship.

Manukau have games in hand over their nearest rivals but will go into Wednesday’s floodlit game at Mangere Centre Park as likely losers to an Auckland City side who are trying to catch leaders Eastern Suburbs.

The Navy Blues are unbeaten in their 10 games this season.
