Midweek game will decide first team to reach last eight in Kate Sheppard Cup

The Kate Sheppard Cup will find its first quarter-finalist on Wednesday night — and they’re sure to come from Otago.

Dunedin City Royals and Otago University have opted to schedule their round 3 tie under the midweek floodlights at the city’s artificial turf venue.

It’s the first of eight ties that will be staged for women’s football’s premier knockout trophy by Sunday.

Dunedin City Royals have reached the last 16 with a 6-0 first-round win against Green Island, followed by a 2-1 win at Roslyn Wakari.

Otago University had a first-round bye and beat Mosgiel 3-0 in the second round.
