Auckland City go top in the Northern League after 7-0 romp against Manurewa

Defending champions Auckland City have taken the lead of the Northern League with a 7-0 win against fourth-placed Manurewa.

Playing a catch-up game under midweek floodlights at the Croatian Cultural Club, City’s Ryan de Vries led the way with a second-half hat-trick which takes his tally to 20 goals in all competitions this year.

Rewa held out till the 36th minute but once City broke the deadlock, with a goal from Angus Kilkolly, the points were always going to the Navy Blues.

Auckland City lead Eastern Suburbs on goal difference, with both clubs unbeaten after 13 games.
