New Zealand and New Caledonia have drawn their first of two U-17 men’s international friendlies being played in Auckland.
The sides drew 1-1 at Whenuapai’s Fred Taylor Park as the sides used the game to help both prepare for November’s FIFA U-17 Men’s World Cup.
Grégory Diko opened the scoring for New Caledonia midway through the first half.
New Zealand levelled just before half-time when Auckland United’s Bronson Brown headed into the net in the second phase of play after a corner.
The sides meet again at the same venue on Thursday (kick off 3pm). Admission is free.
The FIFA U-17 World Cup starts on November 10, 2023 in Indonesia.
