Ferns forward Paige Satchell signs for English club London City Lionesses

Out-of-contract Wellington Phoenix forward Paige Satchell has signed a one-year contract with English club London City Lionesses.

Rotorua-born Satchell (25) joins Football Ferns teammate Grace Neville at the club who play in the Women’s Championship, the second tier of English women’s competition.

“I’m very excited to be coming to London,” Satchell told the club’s website.

“I’ve been playing professionally for about four seasons now, and I think it’s a positive step to move to a new environment in England, where I will be challenged to grow and develop as a footballer.”

Satchell has played for SC Sand (Frauen Bundesliga), and for Canberra United, Sydney FC, and Wellington Phoenix (A-League).

How the London City Lionesses announced Paige Satchell’s signing.

Lionesses first team assistant coach Nicola Williams said:

“Paige is a very exciting addition for the Club. She will add to our depth of international talent and comes into the squad after a significant period with the Football Ferns at the World Cup.

“Her pace and ability to get past players on the wing will add an x-factor to our team.”

Meanwhile, Ferns defender Grace Neville has agreed a one-year extension to her contract with the London City Lionesses.

Neville (23) has made 53 appearances for the club, having signed from Arsenal five seasons ago.
