Franklin United and Te Atatu confirm titles in northern men’s competitions

Franklin United have won the Lotto NRFL Northern Conference title, earning a shot at promotion via end-of-season play-offs.

United were assured of the title when nearest rivals Bucklands Beach dropped two points in a 1-1 draw at Beachlands Maraetai on Saturday.

Franklin United, who had a bye, meet Bucklands Beach in the last fixture of the competition next Saturday but the result won’t change the final position of either club.

By winning the Northern Conference, Franklin get the chance to play off with the winners of the Lotto NRFL Southern Conference for a spot in next year’s Lotto NRFL Men’s Championship.

The Southern Conference will be won either by current leaders Cambridge or Waikato Unicol.

Meanwhile, Te Atatu have won the NRFL League One crown, ending their season with a 6-0 drubbing of Ranui Swanson to finish ahead of South Auckland Rangers.
