Tauranga City have been given a two-point lead in the Lotto NRFL Men’s Championship after a decision by Northern Rovers to default their catch-up fixture.
The match was to have been played at Tauranga’s Links Ave on July 8, but bad weather forced a postponement.
The 3-0 default win takes Tauranga above East Coast Bays on the league table, with the last round of games set for Saturday.
Tauranga can make sure of the Championship title with a win against third-placed Mount Albert Ponsonby, though a draw would also earn them the title unless Bays beat Hibiscus Coast by a margin of six goals or more.
