PREVIEW: Futsal Ferns to return to international stage at tri-nation tournament

posted in: Futsal, News

New Zealand’s Futsal Ferns will play their first full international match in four years when they face Indonesia at a three-nation tournament in the Philippines on Wednesday night.

The October 18 game starts the five-day PFF Women’s Tri-Nation Futsal Invitational Tournament in Manila, with the Ferns guaranteed at least three matches.

The game will be live-streamed by the Philippine Football Federation via link to be promoted nearer the 9pm (NZT) kick-off.

Futsal Ferns head coach Nic Downes has named four newcomers in his 14-player squad for the tournament which provides New Zealand with the first step in their campaign to qualify for the inaugural 2025 FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup.

The Oceania region will be allocated one place at the World Cup and while the qualification process has yet to be confirmed, it’s likely to mirror the pathway for the 2024 FIFA Futsal Men’s World Cup.
