VIDEO: Preparations underway as Futsal Whites plan for first World Cup

Having qualified for their first-ever FIFA Futsal World Cup, the Futsal Whites are training fortnightly to prepare for next year’s tournament in Uzbekistan.

“We’ll have a couple of camps throughout the year. We already train fortnightly. The harder part is how we connect with those players that are overseas in different environments,” says New Zealand head coach Marvin Eakins.

Eakins told 1News the squad was still getting used to having the Oceania Futsal Nations Cup, which they won in October.

“We haven’t had our fingers on it before and I guess the meaning behind the trophy, which is that ticket to the World Cup.”
