LISTEN: Expansion club aiming to appoint head coach ‘in two to three weeks’

Auckland’s new A-League club hopes to have its head coach in place before Christmas, says newly-appointed director of football Terry McFlynn.

In an interview with NewstalkZB‘s Jason Pine, McFlynn says appointing the right head coach is his priority as he starts to build the new club from scratch.

“First and foremost, one of the key appointments at the football department has to be the head coach.

“We’ve got a way we want to play and a style that makes the people of Auckland proud and come and support, and bring a lot of joy and happiness to the people.

“Obviously, the coach will have to align with that and work on bringing in the players to bring that plan to life.”

McFlynn said the recruitment process was underway, identifying candidates with the right fit with the values of the organisation.

“We’re probably two to three weeks away, I’d say,” he said.

“We’d like to have an appointment done before Christmas, which should give our supporters something to be happy about.”
