VIDEO: All Whites striker Chris Wood scores hat-trick against former club

New Zealand international Chris Wood says his hat-trick against former club Newcastle United was “bitter sweet but I’m definitely going to take it.”

Wood (32) scored all Nottingham Forest’s goals in their 3-1 win at St James Park, easing the relegation pressure on the club.

Forest trailed to an Alexander Isak penalty before Wood levelled during first half stoppage time.

He added two more early in the second spell, latching onto defence-splitting passes and turning them past Newcastle ‘keeper Martin Dubravka.

Wood was restrained in his goal celebrations.

For Wood, it’s his second EPL hat-trick.

His previous hat-trick, scored for Burnley against Wolverhampton Wanderers on April 25, 2021 (NZT), was the first by a New Zealander in the competition.
