VIDEO: All Whites forward Andre de Jong scores winner for South African club

New Zealand international Andre de Jong has come off the subs’ bench to score the winner for Stellenbosch in their 3-2 win against Orlando Pirates.

De Jong (27) played a part in the build-up play and was then in position to volley his shot for what turned out to be the winning goal in the South Africa Premier League fixture.

His Stellenbosch side were trailing 0-2 when the New Zealander was introduced into the match after 66 minutes. His side fired three goals in an eight-minute burst to overhaul the Pirates.

Otorohanga-born de Jong played his youth football for Hamilton Wanderers and Canterbury United before heading overseas for spells with Australian and South African clubs. He has returned from overseas for two stints with Auckland club Eastern Suburbs.

The 10-cap All Whites striker joined Stellenbosch in 2023. Their win against Orlando Pirates took them third on the 16-club PSL table.
