Auckland’s yet-to-be-named A-League expansion club is recruiting a commercial sales manager ahead of this year’s launch.
The club, which will enter the men’s A-League in 2024 and the women’s A-League a year later, is recruiting the position through Global Elite Sports, a specialist recruitment agency for sports-related businesses.
In its advertisement, here’s the summary of the role:
“As Commercial Sales Manager, you will be responsible for achieving the commercial budget through the sale of club assets (sponsorship, apparel, merchandise and other revenue streams) as well as the management and servicing of existing commercial partners.
‘The role requires a proactive and accomplished professional who can manage multiple projects across business development, partnership management and hosting.
“You will be required to proactively report back to commercial partners on key performance objectives to ensure they are feeling valued and seeing results.
“This role requires an understanding of the sports industry, the local NZ market, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with key clients and to think outside the square to drive revenue growth.”
Desired skills and experience
- Experience working within an agency, brand, marketing, or commercial environment.
- Proven record in business development, partnerships or account management roles.
- Track record of consistently achieving sales targets and other KPIs.
- Ability to relate to varying levels from a corporate CEO to local small business owners.
- A self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and ability to innovate as well as experience with prospecting and converting new business opportunities.
- Strong organisation, planning and time management skills.
- Ability to create mutually beneficial partnerships through innovative ideas & activations.
- Advanced presentation, negotiation, influencing and communication
- Experience using CRM systems to generate leads would be well regarded.
- Prior experience working in sport is not required; however, a passion for sport is important.
