Western Springs unveil new signings for new Northern League campaign

New Zealand age group international goalkeeper Oscar Mason is among the new season signings for Northern League club Western Springs.

Mason (19), a member of the OFC U-19 Championship-winning national team, joins the Auckland club after playing national league football for Napier City Rovers.

Other signings announced by Springs are:

  • Aidan Carey (22), a central defender who has been with Northern League champions Auckland City, after playing his junior and youth football at Bay Olympic and Central United.
  • Riley Manuel (19), a midfielder who moves north from Central League club Miramar Rangers. He joins his brother Jackson Manuel at Springs, another member of the national U-19 squad.
  • Emman Rahimi (26), who plays as a left-sided centre back or wing back, has signed from Manukau United. His previous clubs include Eastern Suburbs, Three Kings United, Auckland City and Ellerslie, and he had a season with Colorado Rush in the United States.

The club has also confirmed midfielder Oscar Browne (22) will return for his 11th season with Springs, and will again captain the side

Springs have promoted a group of young players from the club’s U-23 and U-17 squads to the premier men’s squad.

They are Louis Spillane (18), Leo Robins (16), Will Britton (15) and Caspar McGavin (17), and Max Buellins (17) who was included in the premier squad last season.

The club has also confirmed the re-signing of a number of premier men’s team players for 2024, including Wan Gatkek, Reid Drake, Regan Diver, Matt Thomas and Niko Steinmetz.
