VIDEO: All Whites skipper Chris Wood scores winner for Forest in FA Cup replay

New Zealand international Chris Wood has helped his Nottingham Forest through to the fourth round of the English FA Cup with an extra-time winner against Blackpool.

With the third round replay seemingly heading to penalties, Wood (32) finished a Forest move to give his side a 3-2 win against the League One club.

Wood and his teammates celebrated the goal by holding up a Forest shirt bearing the words: “Thinking of you, Cheikhou.”

It was a special message for teammate Cheikhou Kouyate whose father died this week, forcing him to leave the Senegal squad at the African Nations Cup.

Wood’s winner earned special praise from commentator Martin Tyler who said at the end of the game: “Veteran striker Chris Wood, who has been doing this (scoring winners) for club after club, for years now. (He’s a) great credit to New Zealand football in England, for years so successfully.”

Forest will play English Championship side Bristol City in the next round of the cup.
