Auckland United’s Brad Bicknell to take role with Wellington Phoenix

Brad Bicknell is leaving his role as director of football at national league club Auckland United to join the Wellington Phoenix.

Bicknell (25) has been with Auckland United and its foundation club Three Kings United for 20 years as a player, coach and in leadership roles.

Jo Dawkins, Auckland United’s high performance director, told the club’s website: “Auckland United prides itself as a club with pathways and a development focus. It is rewarding to see coaches as well as players, progressing in their careers onto the professional stage.

“We are delighted for Brad and thank him for his enormous contribution to our football club. Brad will be a huge asset to the Wellington Phoenix and we wish him all the very best.”

Bicknell became United’s director of football ahead of the 2023 season, after previously being the club’s junior development manager and its community development officer.
