All Whites defender Callan Elliot signs for Scottish Premiership club Motherwell

Scottish Premiership club Motherwell have signed All Whites defender Callan Eliot until the end of the season.

Elliot (24) has been a free agent since leaving the Wellington Phoenix last March after failing to agree new contract terms.

The right-back, who was born in Dumfries, trained at Scottish club Hearts earlier in the season but has been signed during the January transfer window by Motherwell who are ninth in the 12-club top Scottish tier.

Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell said: “Callan has good quality and has impressed out in the A-League.

“I’m trying build a squad here and we have been looking to add quality and depth in this area of the park. Callan ticks both of those boxes so it’s great to get him in the squad.

“He’s an international player and someone I think can add a lot to the team.”

Elliot said: “It’s great to say I’m a Motherwell player.

“I’ve been training hard and I’m looking forward to get going. The boys are great and have made me feel very welcome so far.”

Elliot has three caps for the All Whites. His latest call up was for the March 2023 series against China.
