Auckland club Ellerslie have appointed former Solomon Islands captain Henry Fa’arodo as head coach of their men’s reserves and U-17 teams.
Fa’arodo (41) was registered last season with Lotto NRFL Men’s Championship rivals Ngaruawahia United who he joined after three seasons as a player and coach at Franklin United.

He is working to complete his OFC/NZF B Licence as a coach.
Announcing his appointment, Ellerslie said: “We are enthusiastic about the positive influence Henry Fa’arodo will bring to our youth and senior teams. His international playing experience, coupled with insights gained from New Zealand clubs, positions him as a mentor who aligns seamlessly with our club’s player development goals.
“We extend a warm welcome to Henry Fa’arodo as he joins the Ellerslie AFC coaching team. With a playing legacy that includes contributing to notable clubs both in New Zealand and internationally, we look forward to the expertise he will bring to our players and the broader Ellerslie AFC community.”
His former clubs in New Zealand include Hamilton Wanderers, Wellington Olympic, Miramar Rangers, Team Wellington, Nelson Suburbs and Auckland City. He also played for A-League club Perth Glory.
Fa’arodo has 20 international goals to his credit, from his 64 appearances for the Solomon Islands.
