Teenage striker Milly Clegg has told how she was tracked by United States club Racing Louisville ahead of being offered a three-year deal to join the club.
“Racing Louisville put me on their discovery list,” Clegg (18) told 1News reporter Zion Dayal.
“They like that I’m a goalscorer who can play well under pressure, I guess.”
Clegg became the youngest-ever signing for the National Women’s Soccer League club when her move from A-League club Western Sydney Wanderers was agreed in January 2024.
It’s been a rapid rise for Clegg who was playing for Auckland’s Mt Albert Grammar School two years ago.
Since then, she has made progress in club football from Auckland United, to a scholarship at Wellington Phoenix and the subsequent move to Australia.
She will move to Louisville in March, joining former Ferns captain Abby Erceg at the club.
