West Auckland have confirmed three additions to their men’s first team coaching staff in support of new coach Jonny Aalbers.
The club, relegated from the Lotto NRFL Northern Conference last season, have announced Reece Danby (assistant coach), Matty Vicelich (U-23 development coach) and Farhan Waniya (strength and conditioning coach).
Danby (30) joins from local rivals Waitemata, while Vicelich (23) played for West Auckland’s U-23 side last season.
Waniya (31) joined West Auckland from Bay Olympic in 2021.
West Auckland say they are still looking to appoint a team manager.
Aalbers (35) takes over from Dan Menzies as head coach, after joining West Auckland in 2023 as a player after a long spell at Waitemata.
When appointed, Aalbers told supporters through the club’s social media channel: “I’m not naive to the burden relegation will bring but rather amongst it, I see the opportunity to rebuild a squad with a truly solid foundation.”
