New Zealand international Katie Kitching scored direct from a free kick to help her Sunderland team beat Blackburn Rovers to go top of England’s Barclays Women’s Championship.

Kitching (25) fired into the far corner of the Rovers net, the ball eluding a mass of players in the box, to set Sunderland on their way to victory against their seventh-placed opponents.
