Hibiscus Coast have appointed Ashleigh Cox as their youth goalkeeper coach at their girls’ academy, and as an assistant coach for their senior premier firsts and reserves programme.
Cox (37) is an experienced goalkeeper, playing at Premier League and Women’s National League level, who returned to playing last season after a break.
She was in the Hibiscus Coast W2 side that won NRF’s Carol Waller Cup, beating Western Springs 3-0 in September.
Cox works for Oceania Football Confederation’s women’s division, and has Cox previously worked for NZ Football as their marketing and events manager, and before that, as the NZF women’s development manager.
Now working towards gaining her OFC/NZF goalkeeper C Licence, Cox joins the coaching development team at Hibiscus Coast.
Women’s head coach Asher Trotter said via the club’s social media: “We are super lucky to add Ashleigh’s experience, talent, and skill to our coaching team supporting our fast-growing female pathway.
“To have her supporting our talent across both our new girl’s youth academy and also our senior elite environment is going to be so valuable in developing amazing female goalkeepers in our area.”
Coast’s premier coaching team includes Trotter, Nathan Cranney (technical director of football), Maurie Wasi (academy lead) and Adam Frisby (premier goalkeeper coach).
Coast and neighbours East Coast Bays have formed a partnership to operate their girls’ youth academy, which will start in February 2024.
