Nine Phoenix players to miss Sunday’s women’s A-League match in Melbourne

Nine players will be missing from the Wellington Phoenix line-up to face Western United in Sunday’s women’s A-League match.

Four are with the New Zealand team at the OFC Women’s Olympic Qualifier tournament in Samoa, while five are injured.

On international duty: Kate Taylor, Mackenzie Barry, Brianna Edwards and Michaela Foster.

Injured: Macey Fraser, Annalie Longo, Mariana Speckailer, Grace Wisnewski (long-term injury) and Marisa van der Meer (long-term injury).

Fraser and Longo returned to Wellington early from the Olympic qualifiers after suffering injury problems.

Goalkeeper Rylee Foster returns to squad

Sunday’s squad will see the return from suspension of goalkeeper Rylee Foster and the return from injury of Liv Ingham, who may make her A-League debut for the Phoenix in her first competitive game for a year.

The New Zealand age-group international has been sidelined since rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee at the end of 2022.
