Age group internationals sign for Wellington Olympic ahead of Charity Cup

New Zealand U-20 internationals Oliver Colloty and Adam Supyk have been included in Wellington Olympic’s squad for the Charity Cup after signing for the national champions.

The pair were members of the national team that won the 2022 OFC U-19 Championship, qualifying for last year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.

Olympic have named the duo in their squad published in the match programme for Sunday’s Charity Cup clash with Chatham Cup holders Christchurch United.

Colloty (20) is a former Christchurch United and Melville United striker who has transferred to Olympic from OFC Champions League play-off rivals Auckland City.

Supyk (20) has signed with Olympic from Auckland’s Eastern Suburbs after previously playing for Lower Hutt City and the Wellington Phoenix reserves.

In 2023, he had trials with English clubs Stoke City and Brentford.

The addition of the pair to coach Paul Ifill’s squad shows the strength of the 2023 Men’s National League winners as they step out for the Charity Cup against Ifill’s former club, Christchurch United.

Other new faces in the squad include U-23 international Jesse Randall (back from a season with Charleston Battery in the United States), Eddie Wilkinson (from Christchurch United) and Jonty Roubos (from Miramar Rangers).

Meanwhile, the Christchurch United squad features a number of new players after the departures of striker Sam Philip (to Auckland’s Birkenhead United), attacking midfielder Eoghan Stokes (to Australian club Port Melbourne) and wingers Dan MacLennan (to Melbourne’s Nunawading City) and Eddie Wilkinson (to Wellington Olympic).

New United coach Ryan Edwards (who joined the club from Wellington’s Petone) has recruited from other New Zealand centres, and several imports.

Goalkeeper Steven Van Dijk (26) has arrived from Faroe Islands club 07 Vestur and other new signings include Kaleb De Groot-Green (from Dunedin City Royals), German defender Michael Hornsby (from United States League One club Richmond Kickers), midfielder Ta Eh Doe (from Napier City Rovers), centre back Adam Huskic (from Finnish club Pargas IF) and midfielder Tyler Hornsby (from Waterside Karori).

Two top performers from last year’s Central League have moved south to join United.

The Central League’s Player of the Year, Matt Brazier (27) has left Petone to join the club’s former coach, Ryan Edwards, in Christchurch.

Brazier was a prolific goalscorer for Petone, and has played for the Futsal Whites.

Former New Zealand international winger Joel Stevens (29), a three-cap All White, has joined United from Wellington Olympic.
