Thousands of footballers will benefit in the 2024 season from the upgrading of pitches and facilities ahead of last year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.
More than NZ$18 million was invested in upgrades of pitches, lighting, clubroom facilities and changing rooms at 11 training venues across the Auckland region.
The funding for the training venue upgrades came from a variety of sources, including Auckland Council, central Government and contributions from local clubs.
The investment into nine community parks and two stadiums (North Harbour Stadium and Waitākere Stadium) will leave a strong legacy for grassroots sport in Auckland, and in 2024, footballers get the full-year benefit.
Tātaki Auckland Unlimited have compiled a summary of all the upgrades in a website presentation, that includes a video review of all the grounds and facilities.
