New Zealand international Chris Wood’s latest goal has moved him within reach of his best-ever season in the English Premier League.
Wood (32) scored for Nottingham Forest in their 3-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur, his 12th goal for the season and his 10th from his last 13 outings for the relegation-threatened club.
The goal was his fourth in successive EPL games, equalling his best-ever run in the competition. He has now scored 67 career goals in the EPL.
Wood also struck the Spurs post, with a first-half chance soon after his goal.
In his post-match interview, Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo said of Wood’s goal: “He played very well. He scored a beautiful goal in a beautiful moment … he is being huge for us.”
Forest have six fixtures left, giving Wood the chance to overhaul his previous best season tally of 14 goals, scored during the 2019-20 season for Burnley.
This season is the fifth that Wood has reached double figures, a rare feat achieved only by an elite band of strikers that includes Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Harry Kane (Spurs), Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) and Son Heung-Min (Spurs).
