Costa Rican international midfielder Youstin Salas has confirmed he won’t be staying with the Wellington Phoenix now his season-long loan has ended.
Salas (27) says in his message: “I leave with my head held high from the job done. It wasn’t how we wanted to end the tournament but I’m proud of my teammates.”
He thanked Phoenix fans for encouraging him, and messaged that he and his family had great times “in this beautiful city and at the club.”
“I have a great memory of everyone,” he says.
Salas joined the Phoenix on loan from Costa Rican champions Deportivo Saprissa after playing seven times for the Costa Rica national team, including two appearances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
He made six starts for the Phoenix and came off the bench in six more games.
