Fifteen South Auckland school teams begin their quest this week to win this year’s Counties Manukau Boys First XI league.

Last year, ACG Strathallan in Karaka won the league convincingly with a clean sweep.

Last year’s runner-up, Rosehill College, will be a tough competitor.

The two schools, five minutes apart on either side of Auckland’s Southern Motorway, are known for exciting football derby clashes.

Not to be overlooked is Pukekohe High School’s First XI, which won their pool last year but didn’t get to face ACG Strathallan in the play-offs.

Hamilton Wanderers coach Joe Hinds led ACG Strathallan to victory last year and has handed over to Hamilton Wanderers’ midfielder Dylan Morris for this year’s campaign.

The first round of games are scheduled for Wednesday May 11.
