Former Football Fern Sarah Gregorius will play a key part in helping support the rights of footballers worldwide through a new role.
She’s been appointed Director Global Policy & Strategic Relations – Women’s Football with FIFPRO, the global players’ union.
This follows two years of work as a policy and strategy officer with FIFPRO, and she takes over the new role from Amsterdam-based Amanda Vandervort who has previously held high profile football roles including eight years with the US Major League Soccer and at FIFA.
Gregorius played 100 games for the Ferns and is the second-highest goalscorer for her country with 34 goals.
She played at three FIFA Women’s World Cup Finals and two Olympic Games.
She has previously been a board member of the New Zealand Professional Footballers’ Association and she helped negotiate the 2018 collective bargaining agreement with NZ Football that led to achieving parity of terms and conditions between men’s and women’s teams.
These included pay parity, equal prize money, equal rights for image use and, most notably, parity across travel while representing New Zealand.
