Taylor penalty earns Junior Ferns a win against Australia U-20 side in training game

New Zealand’s U-20 women’s side have come from behind to beat their Australian counterparts2-1 in a training game at Auckland’s Kiwitea Street.

Australia opened the scoring in the second minute and held their lead till half-time.

Eight minutes into the second spell, Tupelo Dugan levelled for the Junior Ferns.

In the 79th minute, New Zealand were awarded a penalty which was struck home by captain Kate Taylor to give the home side a confidence-building win.

The game was used by both teams as an opportunity to prepare for the FIFA U-20s Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica in August.

A second game is planned to take place behind closed doors.

Neither game is being livestreamed.
