Western Springs eased into second place on the Lotto NRFL Women’s Premier League table after a 2-1 Friday night win against high-flying Eastern Suburbs.

The win took Springs above Suburbs, pouring heat on the battle for the mantle of runners-up to champions Northern Rovers.

Sofia Garcia put Springs ahead at Seddon Fields, scoring in the 12th minute.

Rina Hirano doubled their lead in the 34th minute.

Suburbs striker Jade Parris pulled back a goal just before half-time.

After turning around with Springs ahead 2-1, neither side could find a way through in the second spell and the home side took the points.
