FIFA Women’s World Cup upgrades help provide floodlights to Bay Olympic

Let there be light! That’s the reaction from Bay Olympic supporters after the installation of new floodlights at their ground in Auckland.

The lights are part of a $19 million upgrade programme to help clubs and grounds provide facilities for teams that will attend this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in New Zealand and Australia.

Bay Olympic will host the Philippines team during the tournament, with their players using Olympic Park as their training base.

Club chair Graham Leaming and Lifetime Club legend Andrew Phipps were present to witness the first turning on of the lights, prompting online celebrations by members and supporters.

“Welcome to our field of dreams … What an incredible opportunity 2023 is bringing to the Bay! We have lights!” the club announced via social media.
