Miramar Rangers grant Life Membership to ‘quiet achiever’ Ryan Holland

Miramar Rangers members have granted Life Membership to Ryan Holland who has served on the club’s committee for 12 years and managed the men’s first team under five head coaches.

Holland was recognised for his contribution to the Wellington club at their 2023 Annual General Meeting held on February 13.

In a tribute to Holland, the club said:

“Ryan comes from a real Miramar Rangers family. Ryan’s grandparents Keith and Joyce Pratt were very active at Miramar in the 1970s and 1980s while their son Brent played CL and then NL for Miramar making 249 appearances.

“Keith acted as club secretary for a number of years, and he and Joyce along with Jim and Rose Coutts ran the Club Housie which was a big fundraiser at the time.

“Ryan’s parents Wayne and Barbie Holland are also great supporters of the club being ever-present on halfway at David Farrington Park and so it was not surprising that Ryan too would get involved at Miramar also as a junior player to the various roles he does today.

“Ryan became manager of the Central League team in 2010. He remained manager of the Central League team from 2010 until 2021, a total of 12 years. He served under five Head Coaches during this time, Matt Calcott (2 years), Valerio Raccuglia 3 years), Wiremu Patrick (3 years), Scott Hales (3 years) and Pat Fleming (1 year).

“Ryan joined the Miramar committee in 2011 and has been a member of this committee since, a total to date of 12 years and still going.

“Ryan works quietly in the background, getting things done, he keeps such a low profile that most people don’t know the amount of work and support Ryan puts into Miramar Rangers.

“A keen supporter of all levels of the club who has helped with several improvements to the clubrooms and the ground over the last decade. He is ever-present on the balcony each weekend, updating the scoreboard amongst a number of other roles in the club.

“Ryan is a fine example of what it means to be a Ranger and we think everyone would agree that he is very worthy of a Life Membership that we have given to him.”

Club elects Life Members

At their AGM, Miramar Rangers members also elected Rosie Telford and Jim Connor as Life Members.
