Betsy Hassett to captain the Football Ferns in rematch against Argentina

posted in: Football Ferns, News

Midfielder Betsy Hassett will captain the Football Ferns in Thursday’s friendly international against Argentina at Auckland’s North Harbour Stadium.

She becomes the third skipper of the team in a week, after Ali Riley (injured since the Portugal game) and Olivia Chance (who has returned to her Scottish club Celtic).

Hassett, who plays for the Wellington Phoenix A-League team, will make her 141st appearance for the Ferns in the game.

Head coach Jitka Klimková has stayed faithful to her most experienced players in the starting line-up, with Grace Neville the only run-on player without double-figure international appearances.
