Friday night wins by Christchurch United and Eastern Suburbs have taken those clubs to the tops of their respective men’s and women’s competitions.
With a Dan MacLennan goal six minutes into stoppage time, Christchurch United went top of the Southern League after putting a five-point break on the nearest of their rivals.
In the Lotto NRFL Women’s Premier League, national champions Eastern Suburbs won 3-0 against Western Springs who fell to seventh place in the eight-team competition.
This followed the docking of three points from Springs’ 5-0 win against Hibiscus Coast in the season opener after the club was ruled to have played an ineligible player.
