New Zealand international Clayton Lewis has signed a two-season deal with men’s A-League side Macarthur, confirming speculation he was set to join the club at the end of his Wellington Phoenix contract.
Macarthur coach Mile Sterjovski described the signing of Lewis (26) as “valuable” after the midfielder had established himself as a regular starter for the Phoenix during his three years there.
“Clayton is an international who brings in quality and experience. He has good passing range and can give us great deliveries with set pieces,” Sterjovski said.
“With a good preseason ahead, I can see him being a valuable member of the squad.”

He has made 23 appearances for the All Whites.
Fellow international Oli Sail has also left the Phoenix to join Perth Glory while departing midfielder Steven Ugarkovic has yet to confirm his next club.
